The Stone Roses’ Waterfall
by This killer track from The Stone Roses takes me way back to a time when I lived with a house full of English backpackers in Sydney’s bustling Bondi Junction, just a short hop, skip and bus to the hedonistic surrounds of Bondi Beach. This was during the mid-1990s, when the UK party culture was quickly usurping traditional Aussie pub rock (Midnight Oil, anyone?) as the Friday night bender, and The Stone Roses, with their terry toweling hats, colourful polo shirts and all round geezer mannerisms, were the very personification of the mid-90s Brit attitude: defiantly sociable, and out for one hell of a good time.

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

Design company BrandImage has just come out with their line of paper water bottles made out of renewable resources. The bottles themselves are recyclable, and while not as reusable as a plastic bottle, can still be reused a few times. These are cool designs, even if they still pander to our on-the-go, single-serving, throw-away culture. Their environmental friendliness is also dubious, considering most people will still choose to throw these things in the trash rather than taking the time to find a recycling bin.

Seriously, all you need to know is about Bob Bob Richard is this: You press a button at your table, and these waiters dressed in powder pink suit jackets will bring you champagne. Go. Now. Just don’t have a break-up date there, the champagne doesn’t taste as good then.
Unlike a lot of other web comic artists, the guys at Team Society League can actually draw well. They’re also freaking hilarious. Seriously, can you top pulling God’s finger?
Beach House are certainly different. The dream pop/indie rock duo from Baltimore create music bursting with atmospheric rhythms, pretty organs and poignant lyrics. I’m loving Norway, the twosome’s debut single from their upcoming album, Teen Dream. If the vocals sound familiar, that’s because lead singer Victoria Legrand shared backing vocals on Grizzly Bear’s Two Weeks. Now how’s that for trivia?
