by I grew up hyper aware of the expectations that people might have of me based on my ethnicity and I always strived to defy them, which is why I decided to suck at math and I refused to go to the kung-fu school they make us all go to when we’re kids. When I see people reveling in their stereotypes, it just makes me feel like giving up and chowing down on a cat.

From the ‘are we serious’ files comes this remarkable Sex Doll race held on the Vuoksa River Rapids, just out of St. Petersburg. Around 800 people turned up to watch the proceedings in which competitors raced each other on their dolls in a three minute dash for fame, glory, and all the attention that an admiring gaggle of plastic dolls could muster. I really, really love this blog. Renee Ruin covers art, fashion, trends, with an emphasis on tattoo, fetish and grunge culture and she digs up the most amazing stuff. Ruin seems to like the same artists I do, including the seriously talented Brian M. Viveros.
It goes without saying that Hip Hop has taken a few very low hits in the past decade. Thanks to the likes of 50 Cent and company, it accounts for around 40% of all music sold in America. It’s a huge industry. So where does that leave Hip Hop artists doing something a bit different? Lord T and Eloise wear wacky outfits, make crazy music and bring a whole lot of fun back into Hip Hop. What’s more, they’ve started a new genre called ‘Aristocrunk’. Watch out!
We used to depend on sundials back in the day, but now there are multiple ways to tell the time. And Tokyo Flash has just invented another one. Based on LED technology, these watches are not only stylish but futuristic and wildly innovative. They even have a watch from minimalist designer Naoto Fukasawa that is more than just your basic timepiece. The Tokyo Flash site says that their watches are supposed to ‘resemble the various moods of a human’, and they’re definitely an attention grabber. These are watches to take us right through to the 22nd century.
