I like the earthy realism of illustrator Rob Bridges’ work. Of his work, he says: ‘From my earliest memory, I have always drawn. As a child in school I never liked to read. My father and teacher’s remedy was to draw pictures on the inside flaps of my school books. Somehow this was meant to boost my interest in reading. Working out of Los Angeles, artist Josh Cochran creates amazing illustrations with a well-developed eye for detail and colour. He grew up in Taiwan, spending most of his time indoors, drawing fantastic creatures and comic book characters. Throughout grade school, he kept on drawing, resulting in a profitable career-clients including The New York Times Magazine, MTV, Nike and Target. Crimea X is the coming together of two offbeat, disparate characters, DJ Rocca (Ajello, Super Sonic Lovers, Maffia Sound System) and Jukka Reverberi from 90s Italian glam cult rockers, Giardini di Mirò, who have often have been compared with the sound of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. We asked them about their favourite music and they started with The Smiths song, Ask [listen below] ‘I saw them playing live on Italian TV. I finally got my copy of Play Pen: New Children’s Book Illustration by Martin Salisbury in the mail today and was immediately taken by the gorgeous illustration on the cover. Marc Boutavant! I flipped to the pages featuring his work and I couldn’t be more smitten by his colorful, fantastically playful, and positively charming illustrations.
Fashion blogger Tavi is biting, witty, articulate, and stylish for any age. The fact that she’s only twelve makes her kind of over-the-top amazing. Already an accomplished photographer and astute critic of all things wearable, the sarcastic pre-teen is probably sick of being described as precocious, but she’s the very definition of the word.

Days Off is an incredibly catchy but smart punk band from Chicago. While they’re the best of what pop music through the ages has to offer, they’re by no means pop-punk. As infectious as their hooks and choruses are, there are enough off-kilter rhythms and complex guitar work to give their music a layered feel, putting them into a category all their own.

I live the upbeat, feel good tempo of the new single — A Hundred Hearts — from Philly group, The Swimmers. Off their latest album, People Are Soft, this song is a strangely fitting anthem for the blustery day outside.

The first image reminds me of the Zentradi cohabiting with humans in the Macross anime. Zentradi dude working on the sail/net/whatever even has blue skin.
