The Archerbolds
Already with a Spectrum show under their belt, The Archerbolds are an up and coming Australian band well worth checking out. I saw the Sydney-based lads play recently at the Mars Hill Café and it was evident that they should be permanently rocking out on a real stage; not in front of coffee sippers. Their floating lyrics, smart guitar riffs and meaty bass lines are infused by The Strokes, Mars Volta, The Beatles, and Led Zeppelin — ultimately producing a freshly spun modern-vintage sound. Lead vocalist and guitarist Geoffrey ‘Gep’ Rectin says The Archerbolds plan to create a solid sound for next year: ‘Over summer, we’re recording an EP and working on a set sound, defining more of an image’. If their track, Rest Your Soul, is anything to go by, then it should be pretty dandy.

i’m going to have to jump up and defend the mars hill cafe there! as the only venue in the parramatta area putting on regular gigs of original music, as well as the only space in the area that visual artists have access to display their work – surely it deserves your praise rather than a denigration of not being a real venue! i’ve been in that room when it’s been standing room only, with folk spilling down the stairwell and filling up the downstairs area watching proceedings on the big screen, and it definitely proved its value as a venue. and it’s just about the coolest room in terms of a relaxed vibe anywhere in sydney, not to mention a great p.a. and artist supportive staff.
sorry no comment on the archerbolds – i haven’t actually heard them yet.

These boys can play, a couple more tracks going toward their repertoire and a release of an E.P. then they’ll make things come their way,
a great sound that’s for sure
Check them out

Hey Adrian,
Nothing against the Mars Hill Café; it’s a cute chillaxed venue. I just think The Archerbolds have the potential to hit up the big stages too. That was my point. Apologies you interpreted my sentiments with a disparaging connotation.
