Psapp’s Secret Playlist
We spoke with Galia and Carim, the ‘toytronica’ pioneers from Psapp, to get the inside word on the musical inspirations that helps shape their own left-of-centre (and left of everything else) sound. The first song they propped was Lizzy Mercier Descloux’s rather obscure number, Wawa [listen below]: ‘Edgy discordant chords, minimalist one note guitar riffs, and far too straight drum grooves. Australian electro four-piece Miami Horror’s have just released their debut album, Illumination, a perfect union of horns, acoustic and electric guitars, synths and looping bass lines — all of which creates a seventies French sound. Aussie disco? Ah-mazing!

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

Now this is fun. This 3D watch dial actually jumps to life. The dial is a modern version of the 19th century art form of lithophanes: carved porcelain sheets that, when lit, deliver astoundingly detailed images. When the pusher is activated, the dial springs to life in 3D, with an LED light and afterglow effect.
