Howard Tangye
Clothing designer, artist and teacher, Howard Tangye gives us a cool look at models. The etched lines draw out a specific moment in time and the eyes seem to be sharing a conversation, listening to someone go on. You can almost predict what they are about to say, responding to you in a manor of compassion, yet keeping their guard up at the same time. His work is a combination of judgment, humanity and fabulous-ness dawwwling. He also puts these images on T-shirts, I am off to purchase one tomorrow. Where you ask? Central St. Martins College of Art and Design where he inspires and works with such designers as Richard Nicoll. Loveliness.

There’s such a heartfelt, spontaneous quality to the work of UK artist Cornelia O’Donovan. Everything she creates is so wonderfully raw and honest that just looking at her work, you get the feeling that she is an old friend you’ve known intimately for years. I’m literally swooning over everything on her website, from the stuffed dogs and cats, to her silkscreens, to her lovely collages. Read more

Shut Up and Play The Hits: an LCD Soundsystem doco
When you begin a band, do you ever think about how will it end? LCD said their goodbyes last year with some concerts for all fans to celebrate one last loss of abandon. Lucky for all those who did not get to be part of the farewell, there is a documentary sharing all the highlights.
Xbox 360 reinventing TV with Kinect Sesame Street TV
They just don’t make ‘em like they used to. Big Bird, Fozzie and the gang at Sesame Street team up with Microsoft to create a Kinect-based show interacting with the kiddies. Gets them off the couch and moving along with the shows. I want to play.

Fresh Flowers is a collection of 32 flowers. It’s a different newspaper; it’s a way of having flowers on your table everyday. 1. Choose a flower. 2. Place it as the cover. 3. Make a roll with all pages together. 4. Put it in a vase. 5. And, of course, don’t water it! 32 Flowers. 29×37 cm. Everyday a different one. Read more
Sometimes it’s nice to see how the other half live, if only to provide you with enough envy to get you through the day. This BMW Group Designworks Boeing 787 is fine. We especially like the glass floor of the bar, which reveals a sparkling new BMW car hidden underneath. Err, the other half, whoever you are, let me in! Read more
The Deal sisters have dropped off the indie-rock radar of late, but this clip of them covering Hank Williams’ I Can’t Help It reminds us why we all loved them so much back in the day. Incidentally, the Breeders are set to release their new album, Mountain Battles, in April.
This isn’t an outdoor art installation, but it is still somewhat curated. Or maybe hoarded is a better description. Somewhere in the inner western suburb of Sydney’s Summer Hill, there is a brightly coloured collection of garden gnomes on display. The owner of the home is yet to be seen, but there are hundreds of gnomes, side by side, all with equally dopey expressions on their faces and accompanied by a second fixation: caterpillar soft toys. There are so many gnomes, the garden is no longer visible. Maybe it’s an Amelie style prank that has just piled up over the years? Read more

Dirty, sludgy, d-beat-loving hardcore band Trap Them from Salem, New Hampshire are about to release their third full-length, Darker Handcraft, on Prosthetic Records. I for one am super excited.
