SOB Apparel
|SOB Apparel (we’ll let you fill in the missing words!) is a project by designer Shawn Button, who has brought his style and artistic experiences to one of his passions: designing clothing. His goal is to ‘transform something from its blank slate or recycled past into something fresh and full of new life. Each garment is made from a base of 100% cotton American Apparel clothing, and they are all created individually by hand’. What’s more, ‘each garment isn’t shipped until … it has soul’. Hot damn! And ain’t that what we need more of in this world?

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine. Made of sustainable ebony wood and running on automatic movement instead of batteries, this limited-edition watch is green down to the shipping of the raw materials. Every raw material used in making this watch is recyclable (the aluminum, the steel, and the mineral crystal are all 100% recyclable), and it also includes solvent free links and is shipped by sea rather than by air.
