Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

Brooklyn based illustrator Autumn Whitehurst is a Lost At E Minor favourite. She recently told the Web Esteem website about her interest in capturing human figures: ‘I have to use a photo reference to comprehend how light falls on a three dimensional form but the figures in the illustration rarely look anything like the photographs because myself and my friends are not such lean sleek glowing forms. It’s one of the biggest challenges but is also really enjoyable and is probably the bit that I have to get most creative with. I plan to completely abandon photo references for the work in which there is no rendering at all, and it’ll probably result in something a bit wild’.

His minimal tech soundscapes are surprisingly melodic and moody, as reflected on his epic track, Asha, as good a starting point to the music of this German electro whiz as any.

I feel bad posting here, because I’m the only one, I guess I like to talk about TVOTR though, and if anyone will listen, I’ve probably got quite a bit to say. I remember when Return to Cookie Mountain came out. I went to Greywhale, my local record store and searched for a copy. I liked to think of myself as self sufficient enough to find an album on my own, but after about 25 minutes of futile searching, I realized that either I was an imbecile, or that I was going about things all wrong. I asked the lady behind the counter if she thought she might be able to help me locate the CD, and sure enough it was sold out, sold out on compact disc that is. I was so desperate to hear it that I thew down the extra 10 dollars and bought the vinyl version (which has turned out to be a fair investment, seeing as its now somewhat of a collectors item) and made a trip home to Ma and Pa’s to dig out the old record player. I played it through twice, both records, and fell in love again.
