|I’ve been into this song for some time, with its overt sixties influences, melodies and structure, all locked in and given a push along by the solid ‘thwump’ of a watertight kick drum. It’s dreamy, drifty, pure escapism, like a light Sangria on a sparkling summer’s day. The band, Chester French, have released the track streamed through a virtual condom player! For real. The mind totally boggles at the thought-process behind it. The Boston duo are releasing their debut EP on November 11 and start an American tour on November 15. We have the track available for free download in the third column of the Lost At E Minor site.

Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

My parents are huge Beatles fans, much like many other people of their generation, and I wish I had enough money to get them this Beatles magnetic hair game. Of course, knowing my mom, who is a cake decorator, she would get icing and chocolate all over it.
Sparks’ album Kimono My House is a demented mix of hard rock, pop, glam, new wave, and baroque pop. Why this record never caught on in the States I’ll never know. The songs will get stuck in your head and prevent you from sleeping. Oh yeah, and the keyboard player has a nice mustache too, as evidenced by this track above — This Town Ain’t Big Enough.
This isn’t an outdoor art installation, but it is still somewhat curated. Or maybe hoarded is a better description. Somewhere in the inner western suburb of Sydney’s Summer Hill, there is a brightly coloured collection of garden gnomes on display. The owner of the home is yet to be seen, but there are hundreds of gnomes, side by side, all with equally dopey expressions on their faces and accompanied by a second fixation: caterpillar soft toys. There are so many gnomes, the garden is no longer visible. Maybe it’s an Amelie style prank that has just piled up over the years? Read more

I’ve been waiting for a group like this. These New Puritans are balls in your face, 100 miles an hour, pure attack! A young British group that has most of the UK press in the palm of their skinny pale hands, they hint at a sonic mash of Bloc Party mixed with what White Rose Movement were supposed to be.
