The Impressionists at the Art Gallery of NSW
|Monet and The Impressionists is on display at Sydney’s Art Gallery of New South Wales until January 26, 2009. Alive with bold brushstrokes and dappled colours, the exhibit features 58 masterpieces by Cezanne, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro and Monet himself, among many others that have never been shown in Australia. It was amazing to view some of the finest quality works that revolutionised modern painting and the way natural light is portrayed on canvas. I don’t know about you, but I struggle with misplacing my little SanDisk USB stick. Mattel’s Barbie crew teamed up with the Young Money rapper to bring her Barbie persona to life in the name of charity. Think classic highlighter pink hair with a blunt cut, flamboyant makeup and Minaj’s signature Barbie necklace. All proceed of the doll’s auction will benefit Project Angel Food, an organisation that works to provide food for people affected by HIV and AIDS.
Add a little swagger to your style with the Alpina M1 vintage sunglasses. The 80s-made shades have been worn by the likes of Rick Ross, Jazy-Z, Victoria Beckham and Stevie Wonder to name a few. And now they’re available to buy at Bangkok’s funky SuperrZaaap! Terminal 21 store.

The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project involved fourteen countries around the world filling crates with the best of their local nightlife and exchanging their country’s crate with another. We were there all the way, following Australia’s involvement. And the final stage, with Brazil and Australia swapping crates, was a beauty! As this video attests.
Look closely at the walls of the Diga del Cingino dam in Italy, at the small brown dots that line the grainy surface. They are European Ibex and they live in these remarkable gravity defying surrounds, eating the moss and lichen and licking the salt off the dam wall. Read more

There’s no shortage of bands channeling the surf rock and psych of the 1960s, but the Super Vacations’ sloppy vocals, drunken guitar riffs, and blown out production give them a knowing swagger that has as much in common with Beat Happening and Thee Headcoats as with the Pyramids. They seem to take pride in how bad they are live, but their debut record shows a lot of potential.

Carrot Rabbit loves kids, very, very much. They play, sing, karaoke and cook. He’s about to develop CR Land, just for kids. CR are childrens’ best friend, for sure. A special UV ink printing method makes the “raspberry” stain visible on those cute childrens’ faces if they get directed to the sunlight.
