Shark’s Tooth by Archie Bronson Outfit
Shark’s Tooth is a heavy-psych dance-floor classic featuring distorted vocals, a head-nodding pulse and a highly contagious riff. It’s from Archie Bronson Outfit’s impending third album, Coconut, out on March 23.
Released in 2008, Why Are We Not Perfect? presents three Jesu tracks originally issued on a split EP with the ambient act Eluvium during the previous year. As with the Silver and Lifeline EPs, Why Are We Not Perfect? finds Jesu mastermind Justin Broadrick pushing his heavy aesthetic further into more melodic territory with their track Farewell, in particular, marked by epic synth washes and the title song carried largely by soft vocals and a lopping drum track. Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

This is the mob scene that was outside the Ugg Boot store on Mercer Street, Soho, yesterday as I made my way through the harping hustle and flow of the downtown post-Christmas shopping crowds. And it’s a pretty familiar sight during winter in New York, with long queues invariably gathered along this stretch of road, waiting impatiently for their own little piece of Down Under warmth. These very sweet folks from Seattle supported Broken Social Scene on our last American dates of the Spirit IF tour. Although they haven’t quite hit their stride as a live outfit, the tunes from songwriter Grant Olsen have some very lovely moments that fall somewhere between Velvet Underground and The Everly Brothers. I think Arthur and Yu could take over from where Grandaddy left off, though with better songs. No offense to Grandaddy.
