Alexander Wang for Uniqlo

The new range of Alexander Wang for Uniqlo just hit stores this week in New York. This is the perfect collaboration for budget-minded fashionistas, allowing us to wear Alexander Wang at an affordable cost (in the $50-60 range). The line includes classic and simple dresses with Wang’s signature colors, slate grays and black. I’m a big fan of his fabric selection, these light dresses are a girl’s treasure for a New York summer.

Urban Cricket t shirts

If you fancy a stroll around the Union Square markets in New York before Christmas, check out Urban Cricket. I bumped into these guys the other day and was inspired by their crafty and witty designs. My mits grabbed a Woody Allen-infused illustrated tee sporting the line: ‘What would Woody Do?’. All designs are illustrated and hand screen-printed by Urban Cricket founders, Gloria and Audrey.

Freemans Sporting Club: handmade goods for NYC men

This small boutique of locally (NYC) manufactured and tailored apparel has got the urban outdoorsman look down, and harkens back to a time when even a man of modest means had his clothes tailored to fit. They also have a barber shop in the rear where you can get a straight-razor shave, a simple cut, or have your hangover cured. I’m not quite sure what this last service entails, but props to anyone willing to take on a New York hangover.

Linda Farrow and House of Holland

It’s summer in New York, it’s sunny, and I’m bored of my everyday pair of sunnies. But who has the glasses for me? Designer Linda Farrow does! Her range has so many innovative designs, without the stripes on the lenses like the Kayne West glasses sold at every street vendor in the village. Linda Farrow has the most fabulous vintage shades, and the collaboration between her and House of Holland is a gem in a sea of sunnies.

I love whales. We’re actually nearing whale migrating season here in Sydney and I’m dying to see some seafaring creatures pass the harbour; so that’s most likely why I appreciate Sergey Ryzhov’s work even more. His latest canvas work titled Surreal Adventures displays dream-like, colourful whales swimming in this artistic journey. It’s completely mind-bending, stillness.

Sandrine Pelletier combines traditional and conceptual techniques to bring folk and pop concepts and narratives — backyard wrestling, black metal, folk mythologies, kitsch — into intellectual consideration and experience. Read more

This awesome promo video for the Lost At E Minor site was created by our friends over at New York-based design studio, Lifelongfriendshipsociety. It’s all about looking into a black mirror and seeing the creative energy burst back out at you. We think it’s very cool and the first in what we hope will be a series of short videos exploring what it really means to be lost at e minor. Hit us up if you’d like to have a go at creating one.

Attention Asian fetishists: Sanrio is about to open a Hello Kitty theme park in the city of Anji in Zhejiang Province, China. It will be the first of such parks outside of Japan.

Wow! This song — More Childish Than In A Long Time — from Swedish teenage twins Taxi Taxi! just burst into my headphones like the first welcome glare of a mid-morning sunshine, stinging my ears wickedly with its coarse, repetitive beauty. The forlorn, introspective lyrics and melody tease and shimmer, sending a fleeting and not-so-subtle tap on the shoulder to hit repeat, repeat, and soak it all up again.
