A white peacock! At St. John The Divine
Anything goes in New York, even a white peacock in the middle of Manhattan. Yes, a white peacock! Who says the Upper West side is ‘upstate?’ Come visit one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in New York, which host the famous Cathedral of St. John The Divine (112th St. and Amsterdam Avenue). When you’re there, make sure to check out Keith Herring’s alter as well, and then take a stroll through the garden next to the cathedral. If you’re lucky, you can see him dancing with feathers open, within a foot from where you are standing.

This photo from Rhode Island photographer Diana Brennan has made my day. The delicate beauty she captures, which is so tender and still, is a nice thing to pontificate over a rich coffee and a sense of quiet introspection. ‘Brennan shoots mainly with a digital SLR camera, but also enjoys using vintage film cameras and experimenting with different techniques. She believes that the essence of a scene is often captured best by photographing the details. Victoria Reynolds’s meat paintings
I look at so much art, it’s rare that I see something that ‘wows’ me. But I love bumping into that rare moment. I was doing photo research (nothing related to meat) and bumped into Victoria Reynolds’ work. WOW. Gross-ugly-beautiful. I especially love the ones in matching meaty looking frames.

We checked in with illustrator Amy Sol and asked her about the impact her workspace has on her unique interpretative style: ‘It’s pretty minimal and not necessarily clean all the time. If you visit me you can tell immediately how busy I am by how messy my place is. I like my work environment to be comfy but clear of too many visual distractions. I don’t have much artwork or anything interesting on my walls, but I do like flowers and plants near me. I’ve got so much going on in my head, external visual stimulation often goes unappreciated in my studio’. Read more
New York-based designer, and sometime Lost At E Minor contributor, Deanne Cheuk visited Beijing prior to the Olympics as part of the New Grand Tour. I really don’t understand cat haters. Most of them claim that our feline companions are aloof and distant, graceful and mysterious to a fault. In my opinion, cats are just as goofy as dogs, which is why any documentation of them acting like spazzes makes me chuckle uncontrollably. Read more
