David Maisel’s photoseries entitled History’s Shadow explores art objects from antiquity in a new light. He photographed x-rays of the Getty Museum’s permanent collections that had been taken for the purpose of art preservation. His photos create a detachment from the original artwork, while illustrating how each piece is still alive. The results are serenely beautiful. Read more

This work is by the aptly-named Elfo, an Italian street artist who assigned himself the job of street barber.

The Liars were in the Netherlands recently and we came across some kids doing this dance. It’s really bizarre to watch. Read more

There’s no place in the world like Cuba’s colourful and crumbling capital. Riddled with contradictions, it’s a foodie’s worst nightmare and a photographer’s paradise. The sextet wafts between languid, hallucinatory grooves that channel Iggy Pop and latter-day Cure to unhinged freak-outs that sound as if they’re emanating from the deepest, coldest forests of Norway.

I’m not a watch wearer, but if I was, then I’d be rocking the wickedly cool new range of Diesel timepieces. The Basel 2008 collection is a sparkling, futuristic, retrotastic anagram of style, character and precision — of the digital variety. My favorite? The 1980s-themed watch above, with its ‘silver metallic leather cuff’ and ‘reflective shine’. Read more
