Orgesticulanismus
Animator Mathieu Labaye created this short film in tribute to his late father, who had been in a wheelchair for the last 15 years of his life. The film starts out slow, but when it gets going, it’s simply beautiful. It’s reminiscent of Aeon Flux and Bill Plimpton’s work in many ways, but it has much more heart and a haunting atmosphere. This is definitely worth watching in full-screen mode.

A visually stunning short 3D-animated film directed by Antoine Perez, Celine Desrumaux, Francois Pons and Gary Levesque. Yankee Gal took a year to complete and was produced at the always formidable French computer graphics school, Supinfocom.
Mural artist Blu made this stunning wall animation that has been dropping jaws across the blogosphere. It’s a much more ambitious film than the one he circulated online late last year, which says a lot, because that one was pretty freaking amazing as well.
Marshall Hook’s animated collage — Music Field — is made up of ‘found images, photography, CGI and illustration. It was mostly done in AfterEffects and Photoshop, with a bit of 3DS MAX’. Read more

The New York Times recently posted a selection of Mad Magazine fold-ins from the past 40 years of the magazine’s history. The feature allows you to actually fold the images to reveal the decoded message and picture.
I usually steer clear of anything smelling of disco-breaks: the thought just bores me. But with Padded Cell’s new release, Night Must Fall, I see a bit of a U-turn on the horizon. There’s something really interesting going on here: it’s a cocktail of 80′s swank laced with woozy narcotic undertones and flecked with snappy drum loops: weird, undeniably dark and ominous, but nonetheless pretty damn satisfying.
