Fashion / Clara Kraetsch and Doreen

Clara Kraetsch and Doreen Schulz are the designers behind the hot Berlin design label C-Neeon, which hit hard onto the fashion radar after winning the Young Designers competition at the Hyeres Festival. The label is known for their graphic prints using geometric patterns and rich colors. Stocked in a few hip boutiques in Paris and Japan, the Berlin-based designers made it big worldwide after their Fall 08 show at Paris Fashion Week. Even the carpets designed by Kraetsch and Schulz projected a Mondrian style. For anyone into Neo-Bauhaus, this is for you!

Eco flood

In these new quick-eat restaurants around Paris, the quality of the air is as important as the quality of the food. Radio Citizen

I work in my studio at least ten hours a day, usually seven days a week. So a good collections of iTunes music is indispensable. I’m generally looking for an edgy sound that is stimulating and not distracting at the same time. Yes, I am picky. My recent favorite is the Radio Citizen album, Berlin Serengeti, a wonderfully creative and diverse electronica album which forms an ideal early evening to late night work soundtrack. This shirt is sheer brilliance. Let’s face it, who doesn’t love silly tees? Clearly, Paul Frank does! For a reasonable $32 at Urban Outfitters, this tee is a perfect way to have yourself smiling all day and others giggling. With you, not at you. Promise!

‘Some people call me the space cowboy, some call me the gangster of love, some people call me Maurice, cause I speak with the pompetus of love’. The pompetus of love?! Really. I don’t know what the heck Steve Miller was on the day he wrote that, but I could sure do with some now. Read more

Given the amount of talent he has, it’s a mystery why German producer Pantha Du Prince not received more attention than he has. His minimal tech soundscapes are surprisingly melodic and moody, as reflected on his epic track, Asha, as good a starting point to the music of this German electro whiz as any.

Andrew Fagan, lead singer of The Mockers, the poppiest New Zealand band of the 80s, came around to my place once when I was an impressionable 10-year old with stars in my eyes and a head full of shiny, shiny melodies. Read more

There are few more joys an artist has in life than coming across great resources for inspiration. Lately I’ve been studying typography, the meaning of words, and then something as simple as trying to find all the ‘7 letter words’ I can so that it might fit into my latest musings. Read more
