‘Handmade and totally awesome’ is Maureen Ferguson’s way of describing some of the goods in her shop in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Ferguson is My My’s owner, artist-in-residence, and gal with an eye for the sublime and bewitching. Dear Japan art event in New York
Come out to a gallery in Soho, New York, on Saturday afternoon and purchase art for your home for a good cause. The one evening event Dear Japan has been organized by a group of Japanese artists who live in New York. It features 170 illustrators and fine artists, and all the works are $200 or under. It’s a small portion of what most of the participating artists would normally sell their work for. Of course, I am donating for this good cause, too. Read more

I wonder if this Hello Kitty-branded septic tank is supposed to distract people from the actual contents of the tank? It does make it look slightly less menacing, I’ll give it that.
This entertaining documentary follows a group of seemingly clichéd American teenagers in their last year of high school. Through a comprehensive recording of their lives it reminds us that, when examining anything in detail, there is no such thing as a cliché. The naivety and hope of each student shines through, providing a memorable and accurate portrait of a middle-American high school. Read more
Itdrewitself had the honor of visiting with the legendary Ron English — an occasional Lost At E Minor contributor — at his home in Poughkeepsie, New York, last month, and had an amazing time rummaging through his studio, photographing endless amounts of paintings and sculptures. A survey of two thousand Britons has revealed the country’s perfect pet. Max is a bizarre hybrid that is part cat, part dog, part rabbit and part horse. Insurance firm More Than, which conducted the research, suggests that Max ‘has high energy levels, loves daily walks and sleeps for an average of nine hours 27 minutes a day’. Read more
I almost forgot — metal is really about being drunk, pissed, offensive, and satanic. I have Bestial Mockery to thank for this. Their no-frills black thrash is barebones and snarling without being too dead-pan serious. These guys from Sweden are clearly having a blast worshiping the Dark One in the tradition of old-school bands like Venom, early Bathory, and Sodom. Nothing too original here, but it’s fun as hell.
North Carolina-based company CityFabric offers t-shirts with figure-ground diagrams of various cities printed on them. I’m waiting for them to make a Baltimore one.
