Photography / Luc Borrell

There’s a real sense of adventure and exploration about the heavily treated photographic work of French artist Luc Borell, who takes all his photos with camera phone. ‘I take pictures exclusively with the digital camera from my mobile phone, currently a Nokia. I’m not a professional photographer. I find technique dead boring and I have found the simplest, least technical and most practical equipment to be my mobile phone. Apart from that, I’m a ‘cultural engineer’, agent, and art dealer in my spare time. I have always had a passion for art as a global medium. It took me several years to accept that I myself could create and show my work’.

District B13

A brilliantly terrible French action film, much of District B13 is so poorly done that it races through atrocious and ends up amazing. The stunts are the highlight, many performed by parkour experts such as David Belle, one of the stars of the films and a co-founder of the art. Read more

‘Some people call me the space cowboy, some call me the gangster of love, some people call me Maurice, cause I speak with the pompetus of love’. The pompetus of love?! Really. I don’t know what the heck Steve Miller was on the day he wrote that, but I could sure do with some now. Read more

Given the amount of talent he has, it’s a mystery why German producer Pantha Du Prince not received more attention than he has. His minimal tech soundscapes are surprisingly melodic and moody, as reflected on his epic track, Asha, as good a starting point to the music of this German electro whiz as any.

There are few more joys an artist has in life than coming across great resources for inspiration. Lately I’ve been studying typography, the meaning of words, and then something as simple as trying to find all the ‘7 letter words’ I can so that it might fit into my latest musings. Read more
