Popular Tower
The strategy based architectural firm Popular Architecture has created a scheme that takes on the spread of cities. Based on the estimation that London will need to provide housing for 100,000 new people each year up until 2016, this building houses 100,000 in one hit. Proposed to be constructed in stages of 20 storeys that are inhabited as they are built. The final height of 1500 storeys has circular cuts in its length that allow for outdoor and gathering spaces for inhabitants. Interestingly it is deemed to be heritage as it allows the existing buildings of the city to be retained due to the small footprint. With the city being the only framework capable of handling burgeoning populations these options are going to have to be considered.

I like the concept of it as in how the existing environment won’t be greatly affected by this building. But I have issues with it undergoing construction while at the same time they allow people to inhabit it. It’s kind of risky. The architecture looks interesting nonetheless.
