Architecture / The Alamillo Bridge
I like bridges. I’m not sure why, but I always have. Perhaps it’s their significant role in spanning divides between one place and another. Or perhaps it’s just that some of them are wonderfully designed. In any case, I think the Alamillo bridge, which spans the canal in Seville, is a stunning piece of architecture. Ah, New York. What a wonderful city! I was there for a few days visiting the main man behind Lost At E Minor, my brother Zolton. In amongst all the walking and talking, I managed to whip out my camera every now and then. These shots capture the vertical scale of the city, the wonderful deco architecture, and the vast blocks of blue that engulf the city on a clear day. Read more

‘Treelines and Shadows’, Gina Bruce’s third solo exhibition, presents fresh images of the Australian landscape produced with an ancient method of painting, egg tempera. It is no surprise that Bruce knows well the places she based this work on, as the paintings exude warmth. Bruce is only 30 but has been a finalist in the prestigious Sulman Prize three years running. “Treelines and Shadows” runs from March 1-26 at the Robin Gibson Gallery in Sydney. Beautiful architecture. I like how it dominates the landscape as it brings a sense of vigour and energy.
It reminds me of the Seri Wawasan Bridge in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
