Electric Chaircut at the One-Minute Video Show
My friend and Brooklyn neighbor, Nelson Loskamp — the man behind the Electric Chaircut phenomenon (and if you haven’t see an Electric Chaircut yet, you need to! It’s something else) — is part of an upcoming group exhibition at the cWOW Gallery in Newark, New Jersey called 1800FRAMES|Take4. Subtitled City Without Walls’ Fourth Annual One-Minute Video Show, ‘this group of work presents a 60-second snapshot of who we are as global citizens in 2008: gorgeous, ecstatic, grotesque, scared, enraged, confused, and desperately concerned about the state of things’, say the curators Norene Leddy and Liz Slagus. The exhibition opens on April 12 and Loskamp will be performing his Chaircut at 7pm that night.

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

The Los Angeles musician, Ariana Delawari — aka Lion of Panjshir — is half Afghan and half Sicilian and makes wonderfully enlightened weirdo folk rock. I hope she takes that as a compliment! Her music is delicate and powerful and she is a pure artist. Everything she does has that magic light in it. She made her new album partially in Afghanistan, and many of the lyrics deal with the continued oppression of people’s liberties by the Taliban.
