Dusk
Considering photographer Dusk has had no formal training in photography, it goes to show how far passion and talent can take you. After receiving a Lomo coloursplash camera as a Christmas present, she’s now working as a Hong Kong-based studio portrait photographer. She made the jump to photography after leaving her two year job in fashion design. It was a risk that paid off. Her work is dynamic and the composition is brilliant.

Installations by Confetti System
Confetti System artists, Nicholas Andersen and Julie Ho, create installations and sets using materials such as tissue paper, cardboard and silk and have collaborated with some of the hippest brands and bands around, including Opening Ceremony and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I spied their decorations decking out the halls of Lane Crawford department store in Hong Kong this holiday season. A stylish and lighthearted change from tinsel.

I can tell how much I like a designer by the the speed at which I bookmark their site. With Rob Lowe (aka Supermundane), it was on the home page. That’s a pretty good sign. Supermundane is a multi-disciplined creative who impressively creates all text himself for every project he does. Prepare yourself to be jealous.

This water theatre by the British architect, Sir Nicholas Grimshaw of Grimshaw Architects, takes the form of a vertical seawater greenhouse, with the evaporators and condensers stacked vertically to maximise yield. In the wake of America’s historic presidential election, nearly two years of divisive campaigning, and eight years of a controversial administration, the nation is in desperate need of healing. Beloved Internet personality Ze Frank started From 58 to 42 with Love where contributors use their webcams to post messages reaching out to the side of the country that didn’t vote for their guy. It’s saccharine at times, and there are one or two borderline nasty posts from people that don’t seem completely onboard with the project’s objective. But overall, it’s pretty effective and moving. I’ll admit I needed a couple tissues while reading it.
