Cai Guo-Qiang
This is Head On by Cai Guo-Qiang and it’s absolutely breathtaking. It’s been a rather long time since I’ve said ‘wow’ at anything on this orgy called the internet, but his work is seriously wowful and engaging. While watching a clip of Stage One being set up at the Guggenheim, people call him the greatest artist of this decade and all you have to do is look at his work to agree.

This is Mike Bertino and his work absolutely wonderful. He’s got this original, almost lo-fi Tim Biskup thing going on and it makes me really want to grab a beer with him. Read more
The work of Joshua Ben Long can be found in the fantastical place called Longoland. His bizarre take on objects totally brings the madness from the dark left part of my brain. It makes me want to offer up ice cream to children that are screaming for it wildly like baby birds, then take it back and devour it while laughing maniacally. His plushes are truly brilliant. I’d really like to see his work mass produced and start breaking into the vinyl scene. Maybe some 3″ blind assortments, eh? Read more
I’ve had a crush on Ashley Wood’s work for years now and the packaging art for the new Bertie variant, Dirty Deeds, is incredible. It’s an exciting addition to the WWR series, due out in April. Each one produced will be hand-painted and detailed with accessories and have 43 points of articulation. I seriously can’t wait to get one on my shelf. The packaging alone will be worth buying. In her photo series Welcome To Paradise, Rivkah Young stages scenes to capture what we perceive by the term Paradise: ‘In order to declare this, humans create special places, at theme parks, shopping malls and urban residential complexes. Visions of something different — a tropical rain forest or African Savannah — are also created at the zoo or at water parks. The look of an urban place becomes a scenery-like projection of our visions’.
Clusters of mysterious balloons, packs of terrifying cats, bunnies, and burning people, and other absurd or abstract elements haunt Andrea Galvani’s beautiful and eerie landscape photos. The Italian artist’s work seems to comment on man’s hand in altering nature. Read more
My friend and fine artist Sara Wolfe sent me this link of Chicago based artist Diego Leclery. He created this flash animation Panda, to celebrate the recent Beijing Olympics. He initially said he would take it down after the closing ceremony, but it is still up, so watch this cool one before it’s gone!
I stumbled across the Hello, Blue Roses track, My Shadow Falls, the other week and it set my ears alight, this subtle but beautiful song and its cascading melodic line which will at once ingrain yourself in your inner-ear iPod and then disappear out the other end, leaving only the sweetest of memories. Located on a mountain in country outside Mudgee, in New South Wales, Australia, a permanent camp designed by Casey Brown has been set. A timber structure clad in copper has been designed to have a closed state and an open state. From the closed position, the flanks of copper are hoisted and capture views across the valley. With an imagery of structures, materials and mechanics of old, there is something romantic about this foothold on the hill.
Oh man, this is good. If Jamie Lidell was born in any earlier era, he would have soul brother number one plastered all over his birth certificate.
She may have designed for Ralph Lauren, but it’s hard to believe that Brandy Lunsford’s first two collections have been of this calibre. Read more

i’ve been trying to find better pictures from ‘Head On’ for ages now since I’ll never get to see it in person. Do you have higher-res photos that I could see?
