In the past, my conceptual portrait illustrations have been mostly inspired by music. But I’ve always been drawn to the things that most people turn away from, and I enjoy illustrating these subjects in a style that is both beautiful and occasionally disturbing. I have just begun a new series called Phobophilia, in which I take common fears and fetishize them. My work is often slightly erotic, and with this project, I plan to turn fear into something a bit more appealing.
I can only pity the colourblind when entering the surreal world of Japanese artist Yosuke Ueno. There’s an incredible energy that seems to pop out of each rainbow artwork and the characters are just a little bit loveable. Read more

I’ll admit it, on first listen and in a terrible figity mood, i jumped though the tracks, looking for the instant gratification of a big melody before switching to something else. Despite a few negative reviews from others also too quick to judge, the response to this album has been so astoundingly positive, it’s impossible to dismiss. Written after emerging from a period of social isolation and centered around issues of a man and his dying lover, The Antlers’ album, Hospice, slowly creeps up upon the listener. With delicately constructed chords and small movements, the journey of the album unravels loneliness, isolation and deep catharsis.

I can tell how much I like a designer by the the speed at which I bookmark their site. With Rob Lowe (aka Supermundane), it was on the home page. That’s a pretty good sign. Supermundane is a multi-disciplined creative who impressively creates all text himself for every project he does. Prepare yourself to be jealous.

When I first moved to London and didn’t know a soul, I joined up with the British Film Institute [BFI] and started going to the talks they put on. When I went to see Gene Wilder speak, all the know-alls in the audience kept asking questions, not to find out anything, but just to show off to the room how much they knew about film making. He got annoyed. Genius boy genius.
Is the soul colored or is it black and white? I find this quite confusing, since I believe that a colored soul is necessary for producing colored things. But then again, I’m sure that true color often comes from the deepest broken, damaged and divided black of one’s soul. Digital Jacklight is a mission to try and find out.
Pre-eminent Norwegian Viking metal band Enslaved has evolved over the years from a straight-forward black metal band into a moody, post-rock outfit without completely abandoning their roots. Their last few albums have seen a shift towards English lyrics, sweeping and majestic instrumentals, and diverse influences — everything from Pink Floyd and ’70s prog and psych rock to ’80s goth and shoegaze pop. Pencils made from recycled newspaper
The problem with awesome things like these pencils made out of recycled newspaper is that you almost don’t want to use them.
Inspired by the unique digital clock apps created by the designer, Sean Zoega, the i-toc watch is a colorful physical manifestation of digital ideas featuring bespoke two-disc Japan quartz movement. The outer gradient displays the minutes while the inner gradient shows the hours. The rings interact, creating an ever-changing pattern of design and colour.
