Artist Yumiko Kayukawa states: ‘I’d rather my paintings hang next to rock star pin-ups than on museum walls. Ultimately, I want to connect with people all over the world on that level’. It seems whatever she’s doing is working because, to date, each one of the 100 pieces she’s created has sold. Apparently there’s even a waiting list to snap up one of the manga-pop art inspired pieces. All that hype is genuinely justified. Want to be part of the in crowd? I can tell how much I like a designer by the the speed at which I bookmark their site. With Rob Lowe (aka Supermundane), it was on the home page. That’s a pretty good sign. Supermundane is a multi-disciplined creative who impressively creates all text himself for every project he does. Prepare yourself to be jealous.

It’s official, I’m back into jewellery after detoxing from the 2001 chandelier earring craze. Aurélie Bidermann used to work at Sotheby’s New York in their Impressionist and Contemporary Art department but has been slowly raising though the ranks as one of the most innovative jewellery designers around today. My roommate Adam and I have been playing Mark McGuire’s album, Pocket Full of Rain, all summer and some other tapes our other roommate has showed us that he did. I really like everything this guy has done. I sit and watch him play guitar on YouTube when I’m bored.

I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine.
