Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Jonathan Cruz graduated from the illustration program at Sheridan College in 2004. From living in what he calls his second home, ‘the coldest place on earth’ — Iqaluit, Nunavut — Jonathan blends northern culture with his urban sensibilities in a style that fuses elements of collage, graphic street art, Inuit aesthetics and classical painting. He now lives in Los Angeles, California and attends the Art Center College of Design. [see also the sculptures of Tez]

Hold Your Horses bow down to art history
Produced by L’Ogre, in the finest tradition of an Ok Go! video, this brilliant music clip for the song 70 Million by the Franco-American band, Hold Your Horses is about as clever as you’ll see, with the various band members reconstructing famous paintings in a healthy dip to those errant days of art history.
Paris-based Shaka Ponk’s sound blends electro, rock, punk, and dance with a stunning live show that combines advanced digital animation and an unsurpassed display of energy from the band members.

Artist Taylor McKimens does paintings you want to poke with a stick, and maybe even sniff, if your friends dared you. With grotesque images of diseased bodies, rotting piles of vomit, intestine-looking tubes, and all manner of scatological subjects rendered in muted pastels, McKimens’ paintings look as if pop culture has been left out of the fridge too long and is sprouting some pretty funky stuff. These rings are handmade in Italy by Ashanti Raffaele Cinzio and come in a set of three, shaped flat and polished in a brushed finish. One sterling silver, one yellow bronze and one rose bronze. The rings individually measure 2mm height on the thin side and raise gradually around the ring to a height of 50mm to the feature side. As a set, the total band width consistently measures 7mm.

I do hope any disgruntled viewers refrain themselves from slashing his work with a knife, unlike the infamous 2000 Australian episode.
Where to start with Z-Trip? Shepard Fairey propped him on this site a few weeks back, but let’s face it: the guy is worth a double post. He’s the king of the mash-up, a dance floor master, and the humblest guy you’ll meet. If you haven’t heard of him (unlikely), then go to his website right now and download his free mixes. He deejayed a show for us in 2000, right when his breakout CD, Uneasy Listening, dropped and I was floored. Who has the audacity to mix a Pat Benatar beat with Public Enemy vocals? This guy.
