Hennie Haworth
The name Hennie Haworth conjors up images of a quaint character from an English storybook. And it’s true, the London-based artist has a distinct English slant on her illustration style. Only recently graduating from Brighton University with Honors, she’s already found a niche in what is a pretty competitive scene. Using mixed media, she creates naive, abstract illustrations of everyday items. Her work is approached with painstaking care and handrawn detail — which is refreshing after seeing so much computer generated design of late. [see also the illustrations of Arien Valizadeh]

I can tell how much I like a designer by the the speed at which I bookmark their site. With Rob Lowe (aka Supermundane), it was on the home page. That’s a pretty good sign. Supermundane is a multi-disciplined creative who impressively creates all text himself for every project he does. Prepare yourself to be jealous.

I love the interesting lines and clever use of sustainable materials found in the Klein Bottle House, a holiday place in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. The architects, McBride Charles Ryan, based the design around the concept of the Klein Bottle, ‘a descriptive model of a surface developed by topological mathematicians’. Read more

The Futurebirds are an unruly band of boys from Athens, Georgia, but they might as well have been reared in the backwoods of Woodstock by Levon Helm himself. Their debut release, Hampton’s Lullaby, is out on July 13 via Autumn Tone Records.
