Artist Steven R. Kutcher dips insects in watercolors and sets them loose on paper. Kutcher influences the movement of the bugs by strategic use of light — most insects instinctively move towards or away from light, depending on the species. Fear not, Kutcher uses non-toxic paints, and no critter is ever harmed in his artistic process.

Winnipeg Illustrator Kenneth Lavalee makes some lovely work. His delicate linework, muted colors and twisted tongue in cheek, drama-esque themes (all blood, obesity and creepy little lump people) are certainly worth a good look.
I don’t get Flight of The Concords. I just don’t find it funny. I also don’t get most comedy these days. It’s so derivative and clichéd. Everyone wants the same laughs. I like comedy that pushes the boundaries in strange ways. Fonejack is one underground unit that have had me rolling around on the floor with their real life skits. Read more

I don’t do yoga. I have nothing against it, but it just seems a little too new agey for me. However, if I do eventually try it, I’d like the instructor to put on Fabio Orsi’s moody, ambient, drone experiments. Using piano, guitar, percussion, field recordings, and various sampled elements, Orsi creates some beautiful, meditative pieces that, while undeniably fruity, are still weird enough to hold my interest.

My boyfriend is your typical guy who likes wearing nice clothes, but has no patience for shopping. So when a recent shopping trip in Byron Bay went into its second hour, I knew I was heading into dangerous territory.
