Mukesh Ambani Residence
Earlier this year, Mukesh Ambani, India’s wealthiest man, began construction on a massive, skyscraper home in Mumbai. The 27-story building will supposedly be eco-friendly, with hydroponically grown plants cooling the building and filtering its air, limiting the need for air-conditioning. Mumbai already requires new structures to utilize water-harvesting systems to limit demand on municipal water, and there have been various other campaigns to promote awareness of environmental issues. However, critics of Ambani’s building — called the Antilia — say that showing off such extravagant wealth in a country rife with poverty is insensitive and ethically questionable.
