Chat Noir

If you’ve never really understood the expression ‘herding cats’, you’ll get it after playing Chat Noir. The game is somewhat of a combination between Go and Minesweeper, except the object here is to prevent a cat from running off the board by placing circles around it. However, with every circle you put down, little Chairman Meow makes an evasive move, just like a real kitty. And, just like a real kitty, making clucking noises doesn’t make it want to stay put.

Popopop 2

I never played Popopop 1, if there is one, but I can’t imagine a game much more simple than this. Just drop detonating balls next to balls of the same color to pop them. I feel like someone out there is getting way to much pleasure playing this game.

Iron Sky

Nazis, who have colonized the dark side of the moon since their defeat in WWII, have decided to re-invade Earth in the upcoming comedic action/sci-fi/steampunk-ish film Iron Sky. Laibach did the soundtrack. Who’s stoked? I’m stoked.

Landcarpet is a modern area rug, inspired by nature and farmed landscapes. It shows the world from straight above, as we usually see it only out of the window of a plane. A fascinating landscape image, a satellite-like aerial view to touch, Landcarpet is a piece of nature in your apartment. Read more

Improv Everywhere strikes again with a spontaneous musical in a Los Angeles mall. Wireless microphones hooked up to the mall’s PA system ensured the feeding masses didn’t slip into Cinnabon-induced comas until after the show was over. Note especially the angry dude in sunglasses at about 2:51 — apparently he thinks nothing can ever top Rent.

The street art in Berlin, where I’m living, is just amazing, as these photos suggest. Read more

What to wear to my openings is always a difficult one. Should I dress-up or wear the paint stained clothing worn producing the work? This time my problem was solved quickly as I discovered the perfect dress from A Name Is A Label. Their pieces have a sculptural appearance, constructed predominantly from second-hand clothing. The label is about ethical, new-century awareness.
