John Wischhusen is a product designer who takes one simple form and repeats it up to 72 times to create large three-dimensional patterns. His limited edition Spore and Clam lights are new designs that feature this repetition of multiple press formed pieces of brushed aluminum. The idea is to take the individual components and create a product that develops a personality beyond its individual components in the same way that a life form becomes much more than a collection of cells.

New Banksy artwork angers the Catholic Church
Banksy has struck again, this time offending the Catholic Church with a bold artwork that critiques their stance on ongoing child abuse scandals. Banksy has taken a replica of a bust of an eighteenth century member of the Catholic hierarchy and added multi-coloured tiles to the face — pixelating it — as a comment on what he considers to be the Church’s cover-up. ‘I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one’, Banksy noted. Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

Ouch! I’m sure divorce is painful, but this guillotine ring, aka the Divorce Ring, puts a more painful chop on it all. This fun piece of kinetic jewellery was designed by Kest Schwartzman.
Unfortunately, it’s illegal to actually feed a tree when you die in a lot of places due to health codes requiring coffins or other such “sanitary.” measures. Concept albums have always been a hit or miss affair, all too often to be taken with a pinch of salt. Some work brilliantly; many fall flat on their esoteric face. Dr John’s response to Hurricane Katrina is an intriguing album. Some is rousing, some depressing: it’s littered with political statements, perhaps too much at times but given it’s purpose the over-saturation isn’t surprising. Read more
