Ahhh, Patrick Wolf. What words can I use to describe this man. Talented? Yes. Creative? You betcha. Musical genius? Perhaps. When I watched him perform the other night at Sydney’s The Metro, I was absolutely blown away. Armed with his ukulele, violin, high kicks and dress ups, it was like having David Bowie — circa 1977 — perform a private show in your living room. Possibly, even better. Just 23 years old, Wolf has recently released his third album, The Magic Potion, which showcases his talents as a lyricist, composer and musician, amongst all of that cheeky English charm.

Improv Everywhere strikes again with a spontaneous musical in a Los Angeles mall. Wireless microphones hooked up to the mall’s PA system ensured the feeding masses didn’t slip into Cinnabon-induced comas until after the show was over. If you ever wondered how the fine people from DC dressed, Curator of DC Style has the answer for you. One of my favorites, this blog features pictures of DC citizens in creative and fashionable attire.
Metronomy are a cool little London-based group headed by producer and remix extraordinaire, Joseph Mount. The sound sits somewhere between Autechre and Vitalic: clanging keyboards and body-gurning beats laced with an undercurrent of ominous electronica. It’s not as inaccessible as much of the more twisted electro-based stuff out there at the moment, although it retains an edge perhaps unpalatable for some ears. Yet there’s a catchiness to it that is clearly roping in the crowds: their live shows are a spectacle, complete with synchronised dancing and flashing costumes. If that floats your boat, they’re playing for free at the Tate Britain, London, on 27 September.

Baltimore Mural by Josh Van Horne
My friend Josh Van Horne, a local Baltimore artist, did this amazing mural in our neighborhood that depicts the history of this warehouse-laden area.
Made from 100 percent organic cotton and eco-friendly, this super soft tee celebrates a sinister world of kaleidoscopic colours and ripples of psychedelia, of serenading Queens, of dancing flamingos, of unimaginable euphoria.
