FAIL! Man wears crack jacket to drug trafficking court date
From the ‘what were you thinking’ file comes this news report of a man in Fort Lauderdale accused of drug trafficking who turned up to court for his trial wearing a jacket with a cartoon recipe for cooking crack cocaine. Yes, smart indeed.

New Banksy artwork angers the Catholic Church
Banksy has struck again, this time offending the Catholic Church with a bold artwork that critiques their stance on ongoing child abuse scandals. Banksy has taken a replica of a bust of an eighteenth century member of the Catholic hierarchy and added multi-coloured tiles to the face — pixelating it — as a comment on what he considers to be the Church’s cover-up. ‘I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one’, Banksy noted. And who are we to disagree? Read more

Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

I find this kind of work dull, dull, dull. It’s basically a contrived doodle that has been coloured in without going over the lines. Extremely Light on content and a line produced by a computer is as dead as the Jacobean ruff. Come on stop being so lazy.

Hmm I think the idea of this art IS to be almost lazy and incomplete.
Thats really what I like about it. I think you should keep your negativity to yourself.

Also, Lew thankyou for the information – expect a purchase from me soon!

” find this kind of work dull, dull, dull. It’s basically a contrived doodle that has been coloured in without going over the lines. Extremely Light on content and a line produced by a computer is as dead as the Jacobean ruff. Come on stop being so lazy”
its drawn by hand then scanned into a PC. I dont do drafts before it just comes out like that, so its not really contrived. if colouring without going over the lines is an error, then its one I’m happy making on a regular basis. It is lazy and incomplete in that i havent sat and plotted for days what im going to draw. its just me blasting onto a page in an hour or two all the things my hand wants to draw in that particular moment, it’s not like I’ve spent hours thinking this picture needs this or that. which is lazy, but definately not contrived.
I was wearing a jacobian ruff whilst drawing it though so…
maybe you should look at my other pieces to get a broader picture:-

Personally I prefer art like this – in the sense that its explosive and chaotic – a bit like my self!

Shelby Fischer is a mixed media artist living in Central Virginia. Her work is beautifully realised, laborious in its detail and subtle in its colorings. ‘My mixed media collages and assemblages blend surrealism with otherworldly imagery’, she says. ‘Each work is a fragment of an intuitive story — odd and mysterious narratives that are familiar echoes of a long lost, often twisted fantasy or nightmare’. Having originally sprung from the Shaky Isles (otherwise known as New Zealand), I can appreciate the humour in the New Zealand cartoon series, Bro Town, the first homegrown animated series to screen during local prime time. It’s simply brilliant, a real play on the ‘thuck’ accent and small town ways of our Kiwi brethren.
Monet and The Impressionists is on display at Sydney’s Art Gallery of New South Wales until January 26, 2009. Alive with bold brushstrokes and dappled colours, the exhibit features 58 masterpieces by Cezanne, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro and Monet himself, among many others that have never been shown in Australia. It was amazing to view some of the finest quality works that revolutionised modern painting and the way natural light is portrayed on canvas. Go Monetise yourself and see Rough Weather, and all those serial haystack paintings.
Cheese and Burger a great site to check out, with about 30 different burger options. Here you can find a selection of States with different burger recipes from each, along with a voiceover of a man who sounds like Mike Buffer. Fun.
Why should the devil have all the good music? Finland’s Holy Blood is a great folk-black metal band by any standard, but its horn-raising tunes are all for the glory of the Good Lord rather than Satan or Odin. What would Jesus do? According to Holy Blood, he’d ride through the forests drinking mead and slaying non-believers.
French unisex customized army jackets, each one is slightly different and unique. Embroidered by hand in Berlin with hands and microphone lead logo. As worn by Pixie Geldof. Yup! It is.
