The Sugars
I don’t know a lot about The Sugars but I like what they do. Their sound is quite rockabilly but quite modern — like White Stripes. They put out a couple of indie singles and I’d really like to find some time to work with them.

Haunted House Rock art exhibition in Sydney
John D-C is a Sydney-based graphic artist, print maker and toy customizer. His exhibition, Haunted House Rock, showing between November 19 and December 14 at Sweets Workshop Shop in Summer Hill, is a hideously, abominable creation, monstrously mashing two of the artist’s favorite subjects: The Monsters of Popular Culture and The Golden Age of Rock and Roll. The exhibition features limited edition giclée prints and posters, gocco prints, and customised toys. Read more

I played with Bob Lind last month which was a real honor. I grew up with my dad playing his records such as ‘Elusive Butterfly’ and ‘Truly Julies Blue’ He is a lovely bloke and his new songs are better than the ones he had hits with in the 60s. [see also Christopher Denny]
Pete McKee is a Sheffield artist and a top bloke. You see his work in loads of pubs in Sheffield and he paints a lot of local subjects. He has a cartoon way of painting — very simple and pretty unique. He got a bit more famous recently because Noel Gallagher rang him up and asked him to paint a twelve foot guitar. I have one of his works in our front room. Read more
I just worked with British film director Shane Meadows on two videos, which was a real honor. Shane is a great film director. His last film — This Is England [above] — was one of the best I’ve seen in years. [watch the trailer]

Recently formed hip-hop duo, Rootbeer (Pigeon John and Flynn Adam), have just dropped a super fresh piece of audio pie right in your kitchen. I don’t know if it’s the name, the relaxed look, or the attitude that just don’t sit too well with authority, but something about New York based label Sophomore has got us reminiscing about the good old days. Their current collection has boys and girls getting back-to-basics. Think jersey sweats and loose tees, mixed with yoke necks, caplet sleeves and tapered waists. And you know what that means? The search for the perfect white tee and the ultimate summer singlet is over. If that’s not enough to get you inspired, pull out your denim, pop on some 1970s vintage Jodie Foster, and get ready to channel some Lower East Side cred.
