The-affair [giveaway]
Just launched from East London, the-affair explores themes of the futility of religious intolerance and the Ministry of Love. More than just fashion, the-affair blends social commentary and design to create a statement that goes deeper than a typical tee. We’re also loving the interactive experience of the the-affair’s website, which gives a nice feel for the fit, fabric and prints. Take a look at the current collection - we’ve got one of each tee design to give away. To win, leave a comment saying why you think the label is called ‘the-affair’. Two random winners will be announced under this post on October 9.

It cause the designers’ grannies both had affairs with their milk men and because of the offspring’s bitterneess they designed outrageous clothing to spite the old people of the world. ha ha

Is it because scandal is a most profitable endeavor?
Or perhaps their love for textiles has perished, seeing as they have a few limited designs
and therefore considered only an affair?
I do have to say that the website is well done…
The interactive models [who may have been an item, as a previous post broke] are
a nice touch…

the label is called ‘affair’ because the designers are having an ‘affair’ with fashion - simple.
It’s their secret indulgence, it’s all they think about…

It refers to the lifelong love affair between the two rats on the Miniluv shirt. Poor rats, they are just as much the victims of Orwellian dystopia as Winston… On the shirt they are symbolically divided by the ministry building, but though they are forever apart in textile representation, their love lives on in spirit.

fundamentalist organizations do not sanction affairs, unless you are the head of said organization —power has its privileges.
affairs are all about what is going on behind a facade. affairs are chaotic energy that could change the course of events maybe even the course of history.
if you have ever watched 007 at work, then you know something about an affair - the affair. dangerous sexy covert political smug complex risky sophisticated - it makes sense when you look at these designs.

Not that it is any of our affair but the Affair label was the idea of a fair young maiden whose affair at the local fair with a fair skinned man of good to fair religious conviction was seen as a way to make a fair day’s living!

“the affair” is a representation of their concept behind the label. a vaguely specified concern. there’s a message, a matter, but it’s hidden or subtle.

jesus stares lovingly at the male model in the white t-shirt, fantasizing their next endeavour while The Man In The Rat T-Shirt gazes blankly into nowhere wondering where he went wrong with Jesus, what was said, what was done.
An affair of models, t-shirts and Jesus is what is meant by the brands name, abstract yet hard-hitting. The models cant see what the other see’s at the same time. A pity…I think so.
It could have worked so well.

I think that you called the label “The Affair” because when you were setting up the business your partners thought you were off having an affair because they saw so little of you.
Great brand by the way.

“the affair” challenges the our perspective in a sense that we are all possibly living an affair of sorts with ourselves and that the world is a very contradictory place, not many prcactice what they preach, and are hipicritical, many have hidden agendas, and unknown affairs but we all seem to be doing the same, and in the end all aiming for similar goals just along a different path, all so that good and evil are subject to an individuals position of perspective.
wicked shirts site and concept btw, when r there gonna b more shirts?

“the-affair”
… the founders have been secretly plotting their plan to get out of their day jobs for ages, nabbing old friends for long afternoon coffees in dark pubs to get ideas and inspiration.. (and finally have decided to come clean, set up a sleek website and smartly onto the pages Lost at E Minor). BUT .now.. they wish to keep the mystery and passion that exists when you are doing something cheeky in the dark til 4am and then go to work for 9am with a spring in your step …. and besides… we all remember at least one really lusty love affair, so its happy memories all round.

Anna said | 8 October, 2007
I would think ‘the-affair’ is a name inspired by the idea of subversion against the Ministry of Love, the organisation whose job is to enforce obedience to Big Brother in Orwell’s novel ‘1984′. The affair therefore becomes a term associated with political as well as adulterous scandal.

When I was living in China, a friend of mine had an idea to publish a guidebook about the country’s bathrooms because many expats spend the first few months living abroad going through unfortunate, awkward, and nightmarish experiences coping with sanitation issues, squat toilets, and curious locals trying to catch a glimpse of Western junk. WorldToilet.info is a hilarious but very useful resource for travelers wondering what to expect and how to behave in various exotic locals when nature calls.
