Bumrocks
With their daily (and obscure) free music downloads, Bumrocks was the first music blog of its type. Like other great ideas, it’s spawned a bunch of rip-off sites, but Bumrocks is still the best.

Illustrator Jesse Auersalo divides his time between Brooklyn and Helsinki. His distinctive, character-driven work is marked by an aesthetic he describes as ‘polished and clean, as well as sticky and dirty.’ In his first-ever New York presentation, at Bumble and bumble on March 3, Auersalo will discuss his design background, its relationship to his personal life, and how they all affect what he is doing now.
I’ve just fallen in love with the work of Melbourne-based Ben Wright, aka Ben Zen, the cutest, sweetest drawings and small worlds, which leave me longing for more. [see more creative work from Australia on our sister site, The Colour]
Danny Roberts, a 24 year-old illustrator whose fashion illustrations have been featured in Elle and WWD, draws beautiful images in his own quirky art-meets-fashion style. Modelling his drawings on real-life models, Roberts has created his own fashion world and has the real fashion world a-buzz.

For the longest time I was an enormous admirer of the loopy, distinct line drawings of Brooklyn-illustrator Matt Hollister. Having seemingly lost track of his work for a couple of years (who knows how that manages to happen), I was shocked to stumble across his work yet again recently while perusing the New York Times. I had to check out his website immediately, and from there I wandered into his blog. The best part was that you could almost watch a new style emerge chronologically, beginning with the old drawings and then a small experiment, a mono print and then, more and more, mono prints and experiments, less and less loopy drawings. Even the subject matter seems to have changed and become much quirkier to accommodate the new style. I’m certainly feeling that staying abreast of Hollister’s work should now prove pretty inescapable.
Loomstate has been a casual eco-friendly clothing design alum since 2001, and a beacon for eco-fashionistas who love to lounge and look lovely. So it’s no surprise that this spring, Loomstate is partnering with Target to bring 100 percent organic cotton and sustainable silk blends to the masses. The line, which has a starting price at around fifteen dollars, drops April 19, just in time for Earth Day.
You know, pictures featuring Bea Arthur, mountains, and pizza are the best, but there are still a lot of duds out there. Good thing Bea Arthur Mountains Pizza has collected the best of the best Bea Arthur, mountains, and pizza pictures all in one place.
Yum, yum, cupcakes are fun. These creations are so clever, so arty, so damn bizarre that it would almost be a shame to eat them. Almost! Read more
Kirk brings Molly to meet his family for a pool party but she doesn’t have her swim suit. Kirk, an average Joe, can’t believe his luck when gorgeous babe Molly falls for him even though he’s the first to admit She’s Out of My League. In cinemas April 1.
Disregard the buzz that surrounds those other cupcake shops in New York City. Cheeks Bakery in Williamsburg houses the best cupcakes that I’ve eaten. The clean and understated decor extends to the menu, where being fancy doesn’t rule on the cupcake shelves. Cheeks offers, simply, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with either vanilla or chocolate cream. But if you do want more, Cheeks has that as well, a limited selection of pies and cakes.
It’s the final, sultry day of Barcelona’s experimental sound-fest, Sonar, and weary punters are gazing listlessly at an empty, smoke-filled stage. Before long, a vocalist, beatboxer and grand pianist stride on, and what follows is a startling and, at times, deeply melancholic cabaret-electronic hybrid, prompting jaws to drop and delighting the drowsy. Meet Khan of Finland: ‘I tell stories about my everyday life; they are songs about love, pain, party and spirituality. I would call it bionic blues’.

Wheeeeee! This game is so freaking fun! You move your cursor over each dot to make them split into four smaller dots ad infinitum.
Scanners’ new single Salvation
I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine. Having toured with acts such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, Electric Six, and Juliette & The Licks, Scanners could well blow up in 2010. Figuratively speaking, not literally. No, that wouldn’t be fun.
