Juana Molina’s Segundo is one of my favorite albums. Molina is from Argentina and has an incredibly unique approach to music. I love her sense of rhythm. Hopefully we’ll tour together in the Spring of 2008. [see also Freshcore]

I’ve never been one to go nuts over ceramics. However, Louisianna artist Michaelene Walsh may have changed that in a big way. What’s not to love about a ceramic popsicle collection, ceramic representations of classic vintage toys, or her amazingly whimsical mugs? As easily as these objects might have been created out of any other sculptural medium, the clay, with it’s irregularity and beautiful textured glazes, brings a tangible sense of life and character to these objects, which is what makes them special.
Fresh fruit? Yes please! Never mind that I had just finished a cottage pie as big as my face. I was going to have a punnet of those raspberries. I couldn’t help myself. Really. They were just sitting so pretty alongside the luscious apples and pears lining the rickety stalls of London’s Soho Fruit Markets, I just couldn’t restrain myself. Pioneering Australian designer Kara Smith can definitely give Urban Originals a run for their money. She creates the most innovative handbags for those that truly want to stand out. Detailed with lovely pockets and vintage buttons, Smith’s retro inspired designs literally transform original vintage fabrics into ‘one-off’ clutches, handbags, totes and accessories. I’m in love with her clutches! But yes, if you missed her over the week end at the Blue Mountain’s Leura Village Fair, she’s stocked in Glebe and Sydney’s Todae store, as well as at a variety of online outlets.
