The Seabellies
Changing drummers mid-song, frequently switching instruments during sets and recently scoring a slot playing Australia’s V Festival, The Seabellies are an Australian experimental rock group. Described as combining ‘elegant electronic sounds, rock layers, strange, unusual and pretty instruments with melodic vocals’, a live show from The Seabellies is an enchanting experience. Interestingly, frontman Trent Grenell traveled the world for three years, soaking himself in new cultures before returning home to start the band.

We’re not shy about our love of all things 80s, and Goldfrapp’s Rocket clip has taken us right back to a cloudy pastel world of big hair, synth optimism and glittering disco. We might just stay here for a while. Who’s in?
We’ve noticed an overwhelming number of hipster kids being photographed in need of the bathroom. The usual traits are legs crossed, feet turned in, desperation in the eye and holding on tight. It looks like we’re not the only ones. Hipsters Have To Pee is a photo-blog documenting the hilarity. Read more
I hadn’t heard of Skelator until the name was excitedly murmured amongst metal-heads in Seattle a couple of weeks ago. I’m new in town, so was dutifully checking out the local metal scene, and the Galway Arms was rammed with leather and spikes. There was a decidedly medieval theme, and I spotted at least one real sword. Read more

Born in a sub-provincial city of China, and raised in the suburbs of Northern California, Brooklyn-based artist Jing Wei attended the Rhode Island School of Design where she ‘developed a great affinity for printmaking, snow, and pizza’.
Busy P is the man. This design pays homage to one of the world’s most enigmatic pop-culture mavericks. The French maestro is almost single-handedly responsible for the success of both Daft Punk and Justice. The Midas Touch design references this with the golden robot (representing Daft Punk) and the golden cross (representing Justice) — the idea being that everything Busy P touches turns to gold.

No Age are doing something different to the mass of noise-laden, guitar-drum duos canvasing the lo-fi airwaves at the moment. I’m just not sure quite what. Their album, Nouns, is receiving top-rate reviews after sell-out crowds after screaming, obsessive fans. The music is simply massive: a vast landscape of heat haze, somehow both tranquil and manic, punctuated by singer Dean Sprouts backdrop of barely intelligible vocals and Randall’s distorted, archaic sounding drums.

Creative advertising packaging
Despite the intentions of many, it’s not so often that advertising — as an industry — truly thinks outside the box. Yet, when executed well, clever eye-catching advertising actually works. It does. As these examples will attest to. Read more
Scanners’ new single Salvation
I love this track by London based rock group, Scanners, which is off their latest album, Submarine. Having toured with acts such as The Horrors, The Wedding Present, The Charlatans, Electric Six, and Juliette & The Licks, Scanners could well blow up in 2010. Figuratively speaking, not literally. No, that wouldn’t be fun.
