Nuremberg based illustrator Grobi White studied at the Georg-Simon-Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Germany and majored in illustration and graphic design. ‘I draw my inspiration from everything: music, photographs in magazines, people, nature’. ‘The pictures I produce might be classified as ‘fashionable’ and run on websites, magazines, postcards, t-shirts, posters, books and cd-covers. Often I sell my work to advertising agencies and fashion and trend magazines. It’s for me a way to give people eye candy’.

New Banksy artwork angers the Catholic Church
Banksy has struck again, this time offending the Catholic Church with a bold artwork that critiques their stance on ongoing child abuse scandals. Banksy has taken a replica of a bust of an eighteenth century member of the Catholic hierarchy and added multi-coloured tiles to the face — pixelating it — as a comment on what he considers to be the Church’s cover-up. ‘I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one’, Banksy noted. Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

Having originally sprung from the Shaky Isles (otherwise known as New Zealand), I can appreciate the humour in the New Zealand cartoon series, Bro Town, the first homegrown animated series to screen during local prime time. It’s simply brilliant, a real play on the ‘thuck’ accent and small town ways of our Kiwi brethren.
I came across the Dongzhong cave school, which is situated in a Miao village within the Ziyun county, while watching a fascinating BBC documentary series about China the other night. The school, which was built in 1984 and caters for just under 200 students, is considered to be ‘a teaching branch for nearby resident units’. It looks stunning in its ornate beauty, and it must be one hell of a stimulating environment in which to learn. Read more
I really, really love this blog. Renee Ruin covers art, fashion, trends, with an emphasis on tattoo, fetish and grunge culture and she digs up the most amazing stuff. Ruin seems to like the same artists I do, including the seriously talented Brian M. Viveros.
Three piece, cLOUDDEAD, who formed in Cincinnati at the tail-end of the last millenium, fuse traditional hip hop beats with indie, electronica and psy-rock overtones. Doesone and Why?’s layered, poetic vocals cover the personal, political and social elements of their lives; and, above all, their flatout rejection of traditional musical boundaries makes them a quirky and unique act.
Fred Perry has, with the consent of her family, just released a very mod collection created in collaboration with Amy Winehouse before she died. The proceeds from the collection’s sales will be donated to the soon-to-be-created Amy Winehouse Foundation.
