Dalek
Brooklyn based artist Dalek created his Space Monkey character — which pervades much of his artwork — through a process of ‘drawing characters of that nature for some time. I had done similar characters before but with this one in particular there was not any set game plan. That is funny because that was kinda the cross over from what I had been doing to a couple new things I was trying. I was trying for something a little more cartoony since everything I was drawing back then was sorta tacky. Sorta went through the whole Giger phase with this crazy detailed type of drawing. So I was interjecting something a little looser mostly because of who I was painting with. That was really it. It wasn’t named or dubbed or anything, it was just the first inclination of what would become these characters’. [interview excerpt via Fecal Face]

New Banksy artwork angers the Catholic Church
Banksy has struck again, this time offending the Catholic Church with a bold artwork that critiques their stance on ongoing child abuse scandals. Banksy has taken a replica of a bust of an eighteenth century member of the Catholic hierarchy and added multi-coloured tiles to the face — pixelating it — as a comment on what he considers to be the Church’s cover-up. ‘I’m never sure who deserves to be put on a pedestal or crushed under one’, Banksy noted. Tattoo artist sued by ex-girlfriend for obscene design
Oh boy, this is so bizarre it could only be true. Apparently a Dayton, Ohio, tattoo artist has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by his ex-girlfriend for tattooing an image of, erm, excrement with flies on her back rather than the scene from Narnia that she had requested. The reason? He’d recently found out that she had been cheating on him with one of his buddies. Damn! And here we were thinking this was the hot new look for trailer park trash crowd.

The OP-1 is the most gorgeous synth/sampler I have ever seen. The layout and sounds it can produce seem quite unique and ideal for production and live use. It was also in part developed by the same guy who created the software I use to make music on a Game Boy — LSDJ by Johan Kotlinski.

It’s all about looking into a black mirror and seeing the creative energy burst back out at you. We think it’s very cool and the first in what we hope will be a series of short videos exploring what it really means to be lost at e minor. Hit us up if you’d like to have a go at creating one.

In.cube8r supports all things craft and handmade in Melbourne, running like a long-term market, with the gallery divided into different areas that the artists lease for a tiny cost. There are more than 75 of Melbourne’s top crafters on show and the gallery is always looking for new designers.
