Create a video for Laura Veirs
Here’s one for all you visually creative folk: ‘Make a video for any song from Laura Veirs’ new record other than Cast a Hook in Me and submit it by August 31st. Laura Veirs and Saltbreakers (her band) will vote on the winning clip which will then be posted on her website, her Myspace page and on You Tube. The winner will receive wide exposure for her/his vid, mad props, personal glory, and a care package including tickets to one of her fall gigs, signed vinyl and more’. Nice. Crimea X is the coming together of two offbeat, disparate characters, DJ Rocca (Ajello, Super Sonic Lovers, Maffia Sound System) and Jukka Reverberi from 90s Italian glam cult rockers, Giardini di Mirò, who have often have been compared with the sound of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and Godspeed You! Woohoo! Another flash game that actually tests your cognitive abilities. LightBot is a difficult, but satisfying game in which you direct a little robot using a system of simple commands in order to light up various squares on a grid. The first few levels guide you through the seemingly easy process, but when there are multiple sets of directions requiring you to write what are essentially codes, it can get pretty hairy.
Oh, ok, so now I’ve seen it all. Or perhaps, in this case, I’m not seeing enough. Japanese game shows are so much fun. Seriously.
TheStar69 track So What Is The News is the very personification of great pop. In fact, it takes bits and pieces of the best music the The Cult, Hall & Oates and The Steve Miller Band ever recorded and messes it up with a well-honed, Scottish sense of mischief. We like.
