German artist Neo Rauch uses a ‘distinctive palette of bright acidic colors contrasting with dark, ominous shadows’ to conjure up a ‘parallel world that is full of paradoxes. Although many elements of Rauch’s scenes seem familiar, his landscapes are populated by figures that seems alienated from each other, and the normal is mixed freely with the bizarre’.
