Journey from A to B
I was once on the underground in London when a young Japanese guy got on and proceeded to the fill the time between the stops by constructing the most lifelike miniature horse imaginable out of paper. This thing was unbelievable – finely detailed, delicately chiseled. It was something else to watch. And I wasn’t the only one. The entire carriage was transfixed as this horse took on a three-dimensional appearance in the hands of this master craftsman. Only he wasn’t. He was just some innocuous looking suit on his way to work. Shucks. Reading a free newspaper and dreaming of Vegas never quite felt sufficient after that.

With the streets of New York already covered in a thin layer of ice after a heavy snowstorm yesterday, it’s interesting to see how other cold winter cities deal with this ubiquitous companion. At the annual Ice and Snow Festival, in Haban, China, they get kinda creative with it: building an entire city out of ice and then lighting it up like an extra frosty, colourful Christmas tree.
