Silent raves
My cousin, a lanky young Englishman with a reasonable (yes, reasonable) dance technique, ventured out to this silent rave event the other night at London’s Victoria Station. It’s a fascinating concept, a bunch of punters all pulsing to their own beat – completely oblivious to the musical preference of the person gyrating next to them. Heck, some of them are probably tuned into the World News. Oh well, whatever turns you on. So as the ‘clocks struck 18.53, the packed concourse exploded into a silent rave with everyone plugged into their own iPods and listening to their own music. There must have been a good 3000 people there’. Which all goes to proves that silence is truly is golden. For the residents in the area anyway.
