Ze Frank – that unblinking, strikingly Aryan, real-life Max Headroom – is finally putting his beloved video blog, The Show, to rest this week. As I scramble to find something to fill the void that will open up in my procrastination time, I wonder how a duck-loving, ex-neuroscientist, new-media geek became such a fixture in my life. It doesn’t hurt that he couches his pointed political critiques in absurdist humour and silly songs. It also doesn’t hurt that he can rail on obscure topics like the neurology of creativity. But what really hooked me (and probably thousands of other viewers) was his genuine affection for his audience and his earnest desire to create a welcoming and unpretentious space online. So Ze, if you’re reading this, don’t mind the man outside your window in Carroll Gardens. That’s just a garden gnome with binoculars. [Los Angeles photos by Azizi Murray]

Conceptual artist Pascual Sisto stumbled across a Google Maps street view of Minnie Street in Fairbanks Alaska that was obscured by a plastic bag. He has the view preserved on his site in case Google decides to re-photograph the intersection.
Silver Summit make the sort of hazy psych-folk that would suit a long, night-time drive through the badlands. Incorporating an array of acoustic instruments, strings, slide guitar, and haunting female vocals into gossamer melodies, the collective sound like they hail from a dusty town on the Great Plains rather than their native Brooklyn.
