Trends / Andrew Maynard

World-renowned for stylish environmentally sustainable archicture [examples pictured], Melbourne-based architect Andrew Maynard recently announced Corb v2.0, a revolutionary experimental housing project that Treehugger says is ‘beyond brilliant’ and the ‘best idea of the year’. Far from a typical container project, Corb v2.0 consists of a series of highly portable small apartments that are periodically shifted, randomly or as requested, by a wind powered crane. Sounds crazy huh? The design makes a lot of sense… neighbours can group apartments together for communal parties, premium top-floor views can be shared and common areas can be re-created as required to find the best fit for the neighbourhood. Combining practicality, sustainability and community, Corb v2.0 is revolutionising conventional housing concepts to create a more flexible, personable built environment with a minimal environmental footprint.
