Developing a surprisingly fluid tale is A Million Penguins, the ‘collaborative, wiki-based creative writing exercise’ co-managed by Penguin Books. Upon launch it was questioned whether a collective could create a fictional voice. ‘How does a plot find any sort of coherent trajectory when different people have a different idea about how a story should end - or even begin?’ Proving the crowdsourcing model as a viable creative platform, perhaps the next stage in collaborative publishing is enhancing the aesthetics by including vibrant illustrations - such as these works by London-based illustrator Emily Canino.
