This quiet room
Joanna Newsom creates achingly beautiful harp music over which her pixie voice and medieval lyrics soar in a wave of poetic ambiguity. There’s tales of monkeys and bears and sawdust and diamonds and girls called Emily. And while I have absolutely no idea what she’s singing about, I could listen to it for hours. You should see her live. She takes you away into another world. Oh and I think Emily is a song about her sister.
