Argentinean designer Guillermo Jones graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with an interest in exploring ‘different situations that develop in the mind, generating metaphors of the desires, the feelings, the emotions, the knowledge’. His photo essay – Reality Has Structure Of Fiction [two of which are displayed above] – looks at the idea that ‘days, hours, minutes are only cogwheels of a mechanism than us it is relaxing, imposing his chronology of the duty on us, and distorting our perception of the world and of the value of life’. Part of me wishes this game was about tanks that get drunk and take off their clothes, but really, it’s a simple game where you shoot other tanks and collect power-ups and stuff.
Sparks’ album Kimono My House is a demented mix of hard rock, pop, glam, new wave, and baroque pop. Why this record never caught on in the States I’ll never know. The songs will get stuck in your head and prevent you from sleeping. Oh yeah, and the keyboard player has a nice mustache too, as evidenced by this track above — This Town Ain’t Big Enough.
California’s Cerasoli:LeBasse Gallery has just moved to new digs on Washington Boulevard, Culver City. And to celebrate the re-launch they have an exhibition running featuring the work of Deth P Sun, Mari Inukai [above] and Melissa Haslam, amongst others. This inaugural exhibition, the aptly titled Blender, runs until November 1st.
