Melbourne’s St Kilda is one of those iconic places that attracts an eclectic bunch of people, many of whom liberally skirt the conventional parameters of life. The beachside community is renowned for its diversity – be it in the music and art that out of the pubs and studios or the cakes that tempt from the windows of the cafes. It’s a fascinating little part of Melbourne and its been captured for posterity in a new coffee table book by Australian photographers Elizabeth Clancy and Kylie-Rose Douglas. Same Place Different Face ‘uncovers the character and edginess of a place that holds a magnetic attraction to locals and visitors, louts and luminaries. To some, St Kilda is fish and chips as the sun sets over the pier, Acland Street cake binges, Luna Park, Junction Oval and hot sand in summer. To others, it’s 4am stumps, big sounds from the Prince Band Room, queuing on The Espy steps, street workers, bar brawls and big breakfasts. Says site founder Justin Greenwood: ‘As well as stocking some of the more well known brands, we also import a lot of labels exclusively from America, and produce a small range of our own clothing. British designer Emma Smart designed these cool papercraft lunchboxes that unfold into place settings. The boxes will be sold at ASDA supermarkets in the UK, and each of the three designs come packed with three different lunches.
Knuckleheads is a pretty fun little side scrolling game where you’re a pair of Mexican-wrestler-looking things attached to each other by a chain. You swing each other around to move and hit floaty capsule things for points, and you can change the length of the chain to get over various obstacles, but watch out for the bats.

Sister Self-Doubt by The Shakes takes me there. It takes me front and centre, feeling that slippery, incidenary groove as it crunches my spine and works its way to my feet. Hmmm, the feet. It’s always in the feet. And now I’m dancing and twisting, onwards and upwards, like a manic spinning top thinking nothing of today and even less of tomorrow.
